When summer comes, most flowers enter a vigorous growth period. However, in the summer when the temperature is hot and the sun is scorching, if the flowers are not managed properly, their growth will be easily affected. Therefore, you should pay attention to protecting your own flowers and plants in summer. The key points of flower and plant maintenance in summer are ventilation, timely watering, rational fertilization, pruning and shaping.

1. Ensure ventilation

Some flowers that are afraid of high temperature and sunlight should be placed in a well ventilated and cool place. Such as camellia, Clivia, etc. Orchids and Araceae flowers should be maintained under weak light or astigmatism and should be shaded and sprayed with water at the same time. Light loving flowers such as Aglaia odorata, brandy, rose, poinsettia, fig, pomegranate, etc. should be placed in sunny places for maintenance. Ventilation should be ensured even for flowers and plants that are sun loving, high temperature resistant and high humidity resistant. In an unventilated or poorly ventilated environment, sunlight will produce a high temperature, which will burn beloved flowers and plants.

2. Pay attention to watering in time

In summer, the temperature is high, and the water evaporates quickly. Potted flowers should be watered in time. But do not water in the hot sun at noon. Watering is best when the pot soil temperature is the same or similar to the water temperature or temperature. Like wet flowers, such as narcissus, turtle backed bamboo, Calla Lily, etc., which require sufficient water; Generally, it is appropriate to water the flowers that are fond of moisture, such as Aglaia odorata, jasmine, oleander, mulberry and so on, once in the morning and once in the evening.

3. Pay attention to rational fertilization

Flowers grow fast in summer, so we should supply sufficient fertilizer in time. For ordinary potted flowers, the decomposed thin liquid fertilizer can be applied every 7 to 10 days; For flowers that like acidic soil, fertilizer and water can be applied every 10 days or so. Avoid splashing fertilizer and water on the leaves when applying fertilizer, otherwise it is easy to pollute or even damage the leaf surface. Fertilization in summer should be carried out in the evening. Before applying fertilizer, pay attention to loosen the soil, which is conducive to the root system to absorb fertilizer and water. Loosening the soil is also conducive to the propagation and growth of microorganisms, accelerating the decomposition of organic substances in the soil, and providing a variety of nutrients for the growth of potted flowers. Pay attention to watering the plants the next day after fertilization.

4. Pay attention to trimming and shaping

Plants are easy to grow in high temperature seasons in summer, so they should be pruned and reshaped in time. For some spring sown grasses and flowers, when they grow to a certain height, they should be pinched in time to promote more branches and flowers; For some woody flowers, such as kumquat, when the branches grow to 15 to 20 cm in length, they also need to be pinched too, so that nutrients are concentrated, which is conducive to flowering and fruiting; In summer, adventitious buds often occur at the stem base or stem of some flowers, which will consume nutrients and disturb the plant shape, so they should be removed in time; For some flower watching flowers, such as chrysanthemum, camellia, rose, etc., part of the excessive flower buds should be removed to promote the flowers to be large and colorful.
