Badminton is a small-scale indoor game made of feathers and cork by using a long handled net racket across the net.

The badminton match is held on a rectangular field with a net in the middle. Both sides use various techniques and tactics such as serving, hitting and moving to hit the ball back and forth on the net, so as not to make the ball fall within their own effective area or make the other side hit the ball incorrectly.

People have different opinions about the origin of badminton. In the 14th-15th century, the original badminton racket appeared for the first time in Japan. This is a kind of racket made of wood. At the same time, the cherry pit was inserted with feathers to make badminton. This is the formation of the first badminton sport in history. However, due to its low robustness and slow flight speed, this design gradually disappeared from people's vision soon.

Modern badminton originated in India and was formed in Britain. In 1875, badminton officially appeared in people's vision. In 1893, badminton clubs in Britain gradually developed and established the first Badminton Association, which stipulated the requirements of venues and sports standards.

In 1939, the International Badminton Federation adopted the first badminton rules to be observed by all Member States. In 2006, the official name of the International Badminton Federation (IBF) was changed to the World Badminton Federation (BWF), or the World Badminton Federation.
