This weekend, a spontaneous decision led to a unique travel experience through a program offered by a European airline. The idea was simple: select a type of vacation, such as beaches or cityscapes, input available dates, and let the airline determine the destination.

Choosing the “Greek Island” category, the options were narrowed down to Athens, Thessaloniki, and the beautiful island of Kos.

To our delight, two round-trip tickets to Kos were secured for an incredible price of $110—an amazing deal during peak travel season. Although the trip was only for two nights, the chance to explore Greece made it irresistible.

Arriving in Kos

Stepping off the plane in Kos was like entering a dream. The sun was setting over the Mediterranean, casting golden hues over the landscape. Previous trips to other Greek islands prepared us for the warm welcome, but Kos still managed to surprise us. Despite a minor delay with the rental car, the evening was salvaged with a delicious meal of traditional Greek dishes, including moussaka and a fresh salad.

Morning by the Sea

The first full day began with a peaceful morning swim. Just steps from the hotel, the beach greeted us with its soft sands and clear waters. The gentle waves provided the perfect setting for relaxation. Floating in the serene waters under the morning sun felt like a complete escape from everyday worries.

Breakfast followed—a simple yet satisfying spread accompanied by coffee. Resting by the pool, the combination of warm sunlight and cool breezes created the perfect moment for unwinding. A quick nap prepared us for the day ahead.

Discovering Therma Beach

Seeking adventure, we set out to visit Therma Beach, known for its natural springs that flow into the sea. The scenic drive along the coastline, with fresh sea air and picturesque views, set the tone for an unforgettable day.

Therma Beach offered a unique experience with its mix of hot spring water and cool ocean waves. Visitors from various places gathered, enjoying the calming atmosphere. Adjusting between warm and cooler waters, the experience was both soothing and invigorating.

Exploring Kos Town

As the day ended, we returned to the hotel, refreshed and ready to explore the town. The vibrant atmosphere was captivating, with lively streets and beautifully illuminated wooden ships lining the harbor. The charm of Kos was evident in every corner.

Dinner introduced us to meze, small plates featuring a variety of Greek flavors. From meatballs to dolmades and tzatziki, every bite showcased the culinary richness of the region. A slow-roasted chicken dish, bursting with flavor, stood out as a favorite.

Extending the Adventure

Unwilling to leave, we extended our stay for another day. This decision allowed us to immerse ourselves further in the beauty of Kos. Exploring narrow streets, shopping for unique souvenirs, and taking in the blend of ancient and modern elements made the day memorable.

A Day at Agios Stefanos Beach

The next destination was Agios Stefanos Beach, a serene spot with soft sand and inviting waters. A short swim led to a small island nearby, home to a charming white building with a blue roof. The views were breathtaking, and the sense of tranquility was unmatched.

After exploring the island and snorkeling among colorful fish, we returned to the beach for some rest. The soft sunlight and gentle sea breeze created a perfect setting for relaxation.

A Farewell to Kos

Our final evening was magical. Wandering through the lively streets of Kos one last time, the charm of the island left a lasting impression. The weekend on Kos was a reminder of the joys of spontaneous travel and the unique beauty that Greece offers.
