Africa is the birthplace of human beings, and it is also the region with the most abundant wild animals on earth. More than half of the terrestrial wild animals on earth live in Africa.

In particular, large herbivores and large-scale animal groups are concentrated in the vast savannah of Africa. This article will introduce some of the most famous animals of the African savannah.

1. Elephant

In Africa, elephants are truly the No. 1 wild beasts in Africa, especially adult male elephants who often act alone, freely, and without scruples, and have no scruples about all wild animals.

In Africa, females and calves usually act in groups, while males mostly act alone, unless there is a lone calf. At any other time, lions and other beasts do not have any chance to hunt elephants, but more lions are killed by elephants every year. Elephants are the strongest animals in Africa.

2. Rhino

African rhinoceros are rough and thick and have a brave characters. They dare to accept any challenge. Its sharpest weapon is the sharp horn on its head.

Few animals can hunt it. Even lions shy away from it, because rhinos are cautious and suspicious, and it is easy to think that they are challenging it, so many lions are killed every year because of conflicts with rhinos.

The only thing that hurts rhinos is an adult male elephant. There is a record of a brutal male elephant who killed many rhinos innocently.

3. Lion

The lion is the most powerful carnivore in Africa, without a doubt, although it is not dominant in single-handed battles with African elephants and rhinos, and even often fails and flees.

However, in the face of a group of lions, even elephants can only be evenly matched and dare not fight recklessly, and a group of lions can hunt a single half-adult elephant collectively.

4. Hippo

The hippopotamus dominates African waters. Every year when the river ponds dry up and the water flow decreases, the hippo always occupies the best section of the river. Moreover, it is almost invincible in African rivers.

The crocodile must stay away from the group of hippos no matter how big it is. A crocodile strayed into a herd of hippos and was torn to pieces.

The hippopotamus is also a top-ranked animal on land. Except for lions, which can rely on teams to hunt hippos, other animals are helpless to adult hippos. Its large mouth is the most powerful weapon, and its bite force is amazing.

5. Giraffe

Although giraffes are vegetarians, they have long legs and thick necks. The only threat to giraffes is lions. However, even hunting giraffes is a dangerous thing for lions.

The long legs of the giraffe have great explosive power, which can break the ribs of the lion, so the lion can only rely on other lions to consume the giraffe's physical strength, and finally, the powerful male lion jumps on the giraffe's back to complete a hunting activity.

There is a risk of injury to the lion if this process is slightly inadvertent.

6. African Bison

An African bison herd is a huge group of herbivores in the African grasslands, and it is also a very strong team. Bison is the most common and dangerous food for lions. Usually, when lions or hyenas hunt bison, they will choose to be alone or injured.

Other beasts are basically no threat to African bison, and there are rare conflicts among herbivores. The only recorded killing of a bison is by a male elephant, but this is an exception. From the point of view of the food chain, lions and hyenas are hunters who clean up the old, weak, and sick in Africa.

7. Zebra

Zebras are the second largest group of herbivores after African bison, and their most powerful weapon is a pair of back kicks.

In the face of predators, a violent back kick is the best way for them to fight back. Zebras are also one of the few herbivores with the ability to fight back besides giraffes and bison.
