Our recent journey to London was a whirlwind of history, culture, and unforgettable experiences.

From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, the city offered us a diverse range of activities that left us eager for more. Here’s a glimpse into our London adventure and some tips for anyone planning a visit.

Among London’s modern marvels, The Shard stands out as a contemporary beacon of architectural brilliance. Soaring 310 meters into the sky, this glass-clad skyscraper offers unparalleled views of the city from its observation decks on the 68th and 72nd floors. Designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, The Shard’s striking design and shimmering façade have redefined London’s skyline since its completion in 2012.

Visitors can access The Shard via London Bridge Station, which is conveniently connected to both the Underground and National Rail services. The viewing platform, known as "The View from The Shard," provides an extraordinary perspective of London’s historic landmarks and bustling streets below.

Tickets for the observation decks start at around £32 GBP for adults, with various options available for priority entry and flexible times. For an even more memorable experience, consider dining at one of The Shard’s upscale restaurants, offering spectacular views alongside gourmet cuisine.

Exploring the Tower of London

Our trip began with a visit to the Tower of London, a historic fortress with a fascinating past. Known for its role as a royal palace, prison, and treasury, the Tower is home to the Crown Jewels and has been a central figure in British history.

We took a guided tour, which provided us with intriguing stories about the Tower’s past and its famous inhabitants. The Tower of London is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 AM to 5:30 PM and on Sundays and Mondays from 10 AM to 5:30 PM. Tickets are priced at around £29.90 GBP for adults, with discounts available for children and seniors. Booking tickets in advance is highly recommended to avoid long queues.

Experiencing the British Museum

Next on our itinerary was the British Museum, an absolute must-see for anyone interested in global history and culture. From the Rosetta Stone to the Elgin Marbles, the museum’s extensive collection offers a fascinating look into ancient civilizations.

We spent several hours exploring the museum’s many galleries, each showcasing incredible artifacts from around the world. The British Museum is open daily from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, with extended hours on Fridays until 8:30 PM. Admission is free, though special exhibitions may require a separate ticket costing around £15 GBP.

Soaking in Views from the London Eye

For a different perspective of the city, we hopped onto the London Eye, the giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames. The ride provided us with panoramic views of London’s skyline, including landmarks like Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The London Eye operates daily from 10 AM to 8:30 PM, with tickets priced at approximately £32 GBP per adult. We highly recommend booking tickets in advance to secure a preferred time slot and to avoid long lines.

Convenient Accommodation

To make our stay even more enjoyable, we booked a room at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, located conveniently near the London Eye and a short walk from the British Museum. This modern hotel offered us comfortable accommodations and a range of amenities, including a fitness center and an on-site restaurant. The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge features rooms starting at around £200 GBP per night, providing a perfect blend of comfort and proximity to key attractions.
